Course Description

This course is designed to be an introductory course in Chinese-English interpretation.  It will introduce the three different forms of interpretation including simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation and sight interpretation.  The course is intended to equip students with some basic interpretation skills.

Learning Outcomes

It is expected that students should understand the skills needed for different forms of interpretation and the principal requirements for good-quality interpretation.  Students are also expected to master some basic interpretation skills by working on a selection of materials in relevant areas which can serve as a foundation for further training and improvement.

Interpretation Practice - 30%

Classroom performance - 10%

Thirty hours per semester.
