| Course Description |
An innovative introduction to the study of grammar for all those studying a language other than English. The course covers, week by week, a series of topics in what we know as traditional grammar. Students become familiar with examples from English; then they study the same phenomena in Ancient Greek and Latin. |
| Learning Outcomes | Students gain an understanding of traditional grammar as it applies to English, Ancient Greek, and Latin. By the end of semester students will be able to translate short sentences into and from Ancient Greek and Latin, drawing on a small vocabulary and using a number of basic--and some more sophisticated--grammatical constructions. This knowledge may be readily transferred to other languages. |
