| Course Description |
This course allows students enrolled in the Master of Classical Studies (Research) to carry out advanced research on a Classics subject of their choice and design. Students complete a dissertation of 20,000 to 24,000 words on a topic to be agreed with a supervisor, and approved by the Classics postgraduate convenor. |
| Learning Outcomes |
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the skills and knowledge to: 1. Collect, analyse and evaluate evidence.
2. Read deeply in a particular field of classical world studies.
3. Formulate a substantial argument in a particular field of classical world studies.
4. Construct in clear and readable prose on a classical world topic. |

Sub-thesis of 20,000 to 24,000 words (100%) (LOs 1, 2, 3 and 4) |
| Workload |
520 hours, including a minimum of 13 hours of face-to-face supervision or an equivalent level of contact via telephone, email and other forms of communication. |
| Requisite Statement |
Admission to the Master of Classical Studies (Research) program. Prior written agreement of a member of staff to supervise the sub-thesis required. Approval from the Graduate Convenor and Head of Discipline. |

Students will need to be able to access the archives and library relevant to their chose dissertation. |
