| Course Description |
The ADB Internship offers a unique opportunity of work experience in the NCB/ADB. Students will work with academics and professionals to understand a complex work process devoted to producing a range of biographical outputs: that is commissioning biographical work, research editing and copy editing text, publishing print and Epress, digitization, programming, presentation and new media, Eresearch, collective and prosopographical projects. It will enable interns, under academic and professional supervision, to bring a piece of work, not just to a publishable standard, but to publication online; ADB interns will research and write an ADB article which will then be edited and published as part of the ADB Online. |
| Learning Outcomes |
On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. Understand the research environment of a national collaborative dictionary project 2. Acquire ADB advanced research, writing and editing skills 3. Competently produce an ADB entry |
| Indicative Assessment |
Editing exercise, approx. 1000 words (15%) ADB article or Obituaries Australia entry, approx. 2000 words (25%) Thematic essay, max. 7000 words (60%)

| Workload |
Students are expected to spend approximately 240 hours on this course, including the on campus intensive and work off campus completing the assessment tasks. The on campus internship will be held over 5 days in June/July. |
