Course Description

This course covers issues relating to electronic commerce and the management of information systems, including e-commerce foundations, enterprise systems, business process reengineering and information technology planning. Students will critically analyse and present management issues in class.

Learning Outcomes

The course has the following aims:

  1. Provide you with a managerial and technical grounding in information systems
  2. Provide you with an understanding of systems theory and the general systems model
  3. Examine aspects of system economics, risks and security
  4. Provide you with a foundation for understanding principles of ethics in information systems
  5. Provide you with work and knowledge acquisition skills for being an exceptional IS professional

Workload

Students taking this course are expected to commit at least 10 hours a week to completing the work.  This will include:

  • 3 hours a week: seminar (combined lecture & tutorial)
  • 7 hours a week: reading, research, writing and assignment preparation
