| Learning Outcomes |
By the end of the semester, the successful learner of the course will be expected: (i) To have good basic knowledge of the system of the Japanese language; (ii) To be able to produce and comprehend various types of simple sentences/ expressions; (iii) To be able to communicate in Japanese in situations involving the day-to-day life and some limited topics; (iv) To obtain basic knowledge of Japanese culture and people; and (v) To have good self-study skills of the Japanese language. |
| Indicative Assessment |
Class quizzes ((30%), oral tests (50%), Language Laboratory test (15%) and class performance (5%). Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the graduate students’ interests. |
