Course Description

This course introduces students to modern spoken Korean and to its writing system, Hangeul. It lays the foundations for later Korean language courses.

Learning Outcomes

To provide students with a beginner's competency in spoken and written Korean, including the ability to communicate in Korean in basic, everyday situations (asking directions, buying clothes, introducing oneself, talking about family etc.).

Indicative Assessment

Two mid-term tests – one written, one oral – (together 30%), one final written exam (40%) and one final oral exam (30%)
