| Course Description |
This course will examine a range of forms of group and classroom instruction both within schools and other educational formal and semi-formal settings. It will consider issues relation to curriculum and curriculum development at state and federal level, the politic of advocacy and music provision and the roles and responsibilities of music educators in both accredited and non-accredited environments. It will offer the opportunity to observe, participate in, construct and deliver music lessons, as well as critically analyse lessons of self and others. |

| Indicative Assessment |
Attendance required at 75% of formal contact for completion. 1) In-class participation (10%): students are expected to contribute to workshops in an active way that demonstrates both involvement and developing understanding of the concepts presented. (LO 1, 2) 2) Unit Plan: Develop a unit plan for group tuition based on one of the methodologies covered in the course. Unit plan will include: · 5 lesson plans (including rationale, teaching method, activities and learning outcomes) · Assessment item, including assessment rubric (reflecting learning outcomes of chosen method) (2000 words or equivalent) (LO 1, 3, 4, 5) (50%) 3) Resource Guide: based on further research into a chosen method related to the student’ s instrument / chosen area of expertise, develop a resource guide for teachers, which would include online resources, relevant books, activity guides and multi-media resources (1000 words or equivalent) (LO 3, 4, 5) (40%). N.B: all resource guides developed by students will be made available to other participants in the class, with the permission of class participants. |
