| Course Description |
Aims: To develop and encourage familiarity with the major contributors to the art song repertoire, including study of the song cycle. To develop knowledge of general historical context, and of stylistic differences, through critical listening and discussion. To encourage awareness of the work of great song recitalists of the past and present, and to learn how to construct song recital programs. Contents: A prescribed listening list, and guidelines on how to construct a song recital, to be discussed in 8 two-hour lectures spread over the semester. |
