The three-year Bachelor of Digital Arts is available for students who wish to study digital media arts and specialise in areas such as video, animation, digital compositing, sound art, internet art and hybrid digital art. The program includes two semesters of courses drawn from Core Studies and Computer Science, followed by practical skills-based project work in digital media, general and specific art theory, and a range of complementary studio courses in the visual arts.
Learning outcomes
Successful completion of this program enables students to:
- Apply technical skills and specialist knowledge in the digital arts to realise works, artefacts and forms of creative expression.
- Demonstrate skills and knowledge of the practices, languages, technologies and techniques in the digital arts.
- Recognise and reflect on social, cultural and ethical issues, and apply theoretical perspectives to practice in the digital arts.
- Develop and evaluate ideas, concepts and processes by thinking creatively, critically and reflectively.
- Interpret, communicate and present ideas, problems and arguments in modes suited to a range of audiences.
- Work independently and collaboratively in response to project demands.
Prerequisites
Entry into the Bachelor of Digital Arts is based on ACT or NSW HSC equivalent and interview and portfolio. Once an application has been lodged through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC), applicants are required to fill out a Request for Interview Form on the ANU website at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/admission/Audition_Interview/.
Interviews are held across three days during December.
International applicants lodge an application directly with ANU and include their portfolio with their application.
