Bachelor of Computational Science (Honours)
Where there is mention of Science courses, majors, minors and specialisations this refers to courses, majors, minors and specialisations that are offered by the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and the ANU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (see approved lists).
This program requires the completion of 192 units, of which:
A maximum of 60 units can come from the completion of 1000 level courses
A minimum 36 units must be completed in 3000 level Science courses
A minimum of 36 units must come from courses at the Honours pathway level in Science (see list of Honours pathway level courses)
Successful completion of a total of two computational science extension activities associated with two of the courses MATH1115, MATH1116, MATH2405 or MATH2306
48 units must come from the completion of a Science Honours research project
The 192 units must include:
A minimum of 96 units from the completion of Science courses (see approved course list), including:
- 30 units from the completion of the following compulsory courses:
MATH1115 Mathematics & Applications 1 Honours
MATH1116 Mathematics & Applications 2 Honours
COMP2100 Software Construction
COMP2310 Concurrent and Distributed Systems
COMP3600 Algorithms
- 12 units of 1000 level courses chosen from:
- A minimum of 12 units of courses chosen from:
MATH2320 Analysis 1 Honours: Metric Spaces and Applications
MATH2405 Maths Methods 1 Honours: Ordinary Differential Equations and Advanced Vector Calculus
MATH2406 Maths Methods 2 Honours: Partial Differential Equations, Fourier Analysis and Complex Analysis

MATH3501 Scientific and Industrial Modelling
- A minimum of 6 units of courses chosen from:
COMP3320 High Performance Scientific Computation
COMP4300 Parallel Systems
- A minimum of 24 units towards the completion of an approved Science major (see major list) (18 units of the 3000 level science courses noted in the ‘other required courses’ list cannot be included in this Science major). Students should make use of their elective courses to fulfill the 1000 and 2000 level requirements of the major if necessary.
A maximum of 48 units from completion of elective courses which may be offered by Science, or by another ANU College
48 units from the completion of a Science Honours research project
Students enrolled in the BComptlSc(Hons) must maintain an average of 75% in Science courses each semester to remain in this program. Students who do not maintain 75% will be transferred to the 3 year BSc program but will be allowed to compete for places in Honours.
