This is an advanced computing science program for computer science/information technology/software engineering graduates. Students who complete the single year degree may then undertake an additional year with a focus on research training to also obtain the Masters at an Honours level and exit with an Honours grade (H1, H2A/H2B). Suitably qualified students can get direct entry into the advanced research focused component of this program and be awarded the single Masters with the Honours grade. Students can specialise in a computing science area, and the specialization areas available are in line with the research interests of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS).

Admission Requirements

One of the following:
1. An approved bachelor degree in a computing discipline. The marks obtained in the final year of the undergraduate degree must have been at minimum Distinction level (70% - or a GPA of 3 out of 4).

2. The ANU Master of Information Technology Studies,  or equivalent, at a minimum Distinction (70%) level.

Admission to the Honours plan will require one of the following:

1. The completion of the requirements of the pass degree in the Master of Computing, or an equivalent advanced master's degree, with a minimum distinction average (70% - or a GPA 3 out of 4).

2.  A four year undergraduate degree in a computing discipline, with a minimum high distinction average (80% - or a GPA of 3.5 out of 4).

All students who complete the Master of Computing or Master of Computing Honours are eligible for professional membership with the Australian Computer Society conditional upon them undertaking a project.
