| Course Description |
This is a research-intensive course in which students undertake a self-directed research project under the guidance of a supervisor. It comprises a series of seminars on planning and conducting research, and on academic skills development. The majority of time is spent developing and implementing a research plan under the supervision of an academic member of staff. |

On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. explain basic research theory and practice as it applies to topics related to environment and society |

Students are expected to devote at least ten hours a week to seminars and their research topic. |

| Eligibility |
Admission to this course is at the discretion of the Associate Director Education, Fenner School, subject to the availability of a suitable supervisor. Admission may be restricted to prospective Honours students. Admission of non-Science students requires the approval of an appropriate College Authority. Other than in exceptional cases, admission to this course requires the completion of at least 30 units at 2000/3000 level, with Credit average performance in 2000 and 3000 level courses in the School, and Distinction level performance in courses related to the proposed research project. Incompatible with SRES3010. |
