Course Description

This course continues the study of Ancient Greek grammar and vocabulary. As students progress through the readings prescribed for the semester they meet a variety of Greek authors. As they read and discuss the texts they will reinforce and extend their working vocabulary. There will be practice of the more advanced grammatical principles. These are essential steps in learning Ancient Greek.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Read at sight some limited passages of Ancient Greek.
  2. Read a great range of Greek texts with the aid of a dictionary.
Indicative Assessment

Weekly exercises (30%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 2]

Weekly tests (10%) [Learning Outcome 1]

Mid-semester test (15%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 2]

Final three-hour examination (45%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 2]

Workload

Three one-hour meetings and seven hours of associated study time per week.
