| Course Description |
This course will give graduate students an opportunity to complete an extended and focused piece of written research on a musical topic. Topics will reflect the current research projects of the school and the wider community, and involve the development of skills in collaborative research. |

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

Oral presentation of research proposal, 10% [Learning Outcome 4] Research paper of 6000 words, 90%, [Learning Outcomes 1-5] |
| Workload |
One hour per week of contact with the supervisor, and nine hours per week of private study. |
| Requisite Statement |
Co-requisite: MUSI7003 The Scholar Musician 1 or MUSI8001 The Scholar Musician 2. Permission of the course convenor. |

A knowledge of music equivalent to a completed undergraduate major in music. |
