| Course Description |
This online course takes for its content a series of readings which address current debates in the theory and practice of New Media. There are 10 readings on topics which include politics of the net, surveillance, the development of net ethics, ideas of the 'posthuman', Web 2.0, web 3.0 and other developments ‘beyond the code’ and access and equity in the web. These readings will also address cultural convergences between older media and newly emerging digital technologies. |

Students will choose 4 readings on which to write 900 words each, 60% (total of 3600 words) [Learning Outcomes: 1,2,3] Students will choose another 4 readings on which to write 300 words each (30%) (total of 1200 words) [Learning Outcomes: 1,2,3] Short online presentation (on a reading that the student is not writing on for assessment) to introduce class discussion (5%) [Learning Outcomes: 3,4,5] Weekly online discussion submission (5%) [Learning Outcomes: 3,4,5] |
| Workload |
A committment of 10 hours a week researching, presenting and engaging in online discussion and online assignments. Attendance at 3 day intensive for presentations and seminars.
