Course Description

What is intelligence? Are people's experiences more important than their biology in shaping their behaviour? How do we rememeber things? Why do many people hate other races? How does the brain work? What is depression? What does it mean to be rational and how could this be measured? This course will shed light on each of these questions and many others. It will provide a firm foundation for undergraduate study at ANU.

Learning Outcomes

1. To prepare students to undergraduate ANU study

2. To teach students some of the basic theories and methiods in psychology

3. To explain some common behavioural phenomena

Indicative Assessment

To be negotiated with students. Assessment will include  an oral presentation and written argument.

Workload

10 hours per week, including face-to-face sessions.
