Program Requirements

This program requires the completion of 192 units.


Bachelor of Music
The Bachelor of Music component of the combined program offered by the ANU College of Social Sciences requires the completion of 96 units, of which:

A maximum of 36 units can come from completion of 1000 level courses
A minimum of 60 units must come from completion of 2000 and 3000 level courses

The 96 units** must comprise of courses offered by the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences or listed in an approved major or minor. 

The 96 units will include:

12 units from the following two compulsory courses:

MUSI1105: Music Creative Practice 1 (6 units)
MUSI1106: Music Creative Practice 2 (6 units)

 48 units from at least one major from the following list:

Music Inquiry*
Performance
Creative and Professional Practice

 24 units from at least one minor from the following list:

Music Inquiry*
Performance
Creative and Professional Practice

*Music Inquiry is compulsory: all students must complete either a major or a minor in Music Inquiry

** Students will have 12 or 24 units of CASS electives to complete if a Major or Minor in Creative and Professional Practice is chosen.


Bachelor of Science (Psychology)
Where there is mention of Science courses, majors, minors and specialisations this refers to courses, majors, minors and specialisations that are offered or approved by the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and the ANU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (see approved lists).

The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) component of the combined program requires the completion of 96 units of Science courses, including,

A minimum of 24 units of 1000 level Science courses including PSYC1003 and PSYC1004

A minimum of 36 units of 3000 level Psychology courses including PSYC3018, PSYC3025 and PSYC3026

The 96 units must include:

60 units from completion of the following compulsory courses:

PSYC1003  Psychology 1: Understanding Mind, Brain & Behaviour

PSYC1004  Psychology 2: Understanding People in Context

PSYC2001  Social Psychology

PSYC2002  Developmental Psychology

PSYC2007  Biological Basis of Behaviour

PSYC2008  Visual Perception & Cognition

PSYC2009  Quantitative Methods in Psychology

PSYC3018  Advanced Research Methods

PSYC3025  Abnormal Psychology across the Lifespan

PSYC3026  Personality & the Assessment of Individual Differences

36 units from the completion of other Science courses including

12 units of 1000 level courses

18 units of 3000 level PSYC courses
