The Graduate Certificate in Military and Defence Studies draws from the courses integrated into the Australian Command and Staff Course (Joint) of the Australian Command and Staff College. It is designed to give students a thorough understanding of one of the following areas of practice:
- Australia and the use of force;
- Australian defence policy;
- Military operations; or
- The development and sustainment of military capability.
Entry is restricted to students who are posted as course members to the Australian Command and Staff College.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the GradCertMDS, applicants must be posted as course members to the Australian Command and Staff College.
Admission to the GradCertMDS requires a prior bachelor or higher degree.
Prior learning will be recognised for admission in accordance with the ANU Policy: Credit Policy. Prior learning (formal, non-formal and in-formal) must be documented as part of the application. Candidates are eligible for admission if, in the judgement of the Delegated Authority, the totality of documented prior learning equates to the learning outcomes of a program sufficient for regular admission.
To be eligible for admission to the GradCertMDS, students must fulfil the English language requirements as set out in ANU Policy: English Language Admission Requirements for Students (2010) or any future policy that replaces it.
