| Course Description |
The achievement of sustainable development requires skills in applying theoretical knowledge from many fields, including ecology, social sciences and economics, to practical situations. This course uses field trips and other practical exercises to give students familiarity with sustainable development (SD) issues. Students develop skills in conducting background research for environmental management studies, visit natural areas, and hear at first-hand from field practitioners about SD issues in these areas. Assessment tasks help students to demonstrate their ability to apply theory to practice, to show they understand the constraints on SD, and to practise relevant communication skills through report-writing and presentations. |
