The Master of Arts (Professional & Applied Ethics) is an exiting coursework and research prpogram developed by leading academics in Australia.  It will be available in flexible modes, ranging from full-time attendance on campus through to online delivery.

 The program is not only a valuable qualification in its owm right but is also a pathway to a PhD program in Professional and Applied Ethics. It will be taught by staff from The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra in collaboration with staff from the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE) at the University of Melbourne and Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga.  Students will also have the opportunity to take subjects via credit transfer from Masters programs at the University of Melbourne and Charles Sturt University.

Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics Scholarship

The Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE) in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences may offer a number of scholarships to assist with full-time or part-time enrolment in the Master of Arts (Professional and Applied Ethics) (MAPAE). The scholarship will take the form of a partial fee-waiver for one or more courses which are components of the MAPAE program.

There is no need to apply for the scholarship. In each semester in which funding for the scholarship is available, all students with current enrolment in the Master of Arts (Professional and Applied Ethics) will automatically be considered for the scholarship. Both domestic and international applicants/students will be eligible for consideration.

Prerequisites

Admission Requirements:

Applicants should normally have obtained at least second class honours, division A, in their Australian bachelor degree, or the equivalent in a degree from other countries. The degree should normally be in any discipline of the social sciences or the humanities. In cases where applicants have not undertaken an honours degree 'equivalence' may be met by:

  • a very good four-year bachelor degree,
  • a very good graduate diploma,
  • or a very good three-year bachelor degree and substantial relevant work experience demonstrating a capacity for analysis and research in international affairs, industry or the professions.

As a guide, 'very good' normally refers to an A/B+ average and above, or distinction average and above.

Applicants must also meet the ANU’s English Language requirement.
