Master of Environmental Management and Development
Degree Structure
The Master of Environmental Management and Development program is a coursework degree, but may include a research project on the approval of the Program Director (EMDV 8066 Research Project).
The degree consists of 48 units, including at least 30 units of compulsory courses. Students’ selections of electives are made in consultation with the Program Director.
Most courses are worth 6 units but the research project is worth 12, so can only be taken with one other elective.
Compulsory courses:

and one of the following two courses:
- EMDV8102 Tools and Processes for Environmental and Resource Management
- EMDV8010 Tools and Processes for Environmental and Resource Management (12 units)
Students’ selections of electives may comprise a balance of courses from across the fields of economics, social sciences, biophysical sciences, governance and analytical tools. Alternatively, students may choose their electives to specialise in one of the following areas:
