Course Description Government Marketing examines the use of marketing theory and practice in internal and external marketing for government owned enterprises, departments and agencies.  Specific topics include examining contemporary issues in the commercial marketing sector, differentiating political marketing from government marketing, and the use of commercial and non commercial marketing by government.
Learning Outcomes

By completing this course, students will:

  • Appreciate the challenges facing the use of traditional commercial tools and techniques in government
  • Explore the composition of government marketing campaigns for public benefit, and how these from commercial marketing campaigns for profit
  • Recognise the differences between government marketing, propaganda and political marketing, and understand the appropriate application of each technique
  • Develop professional business writing skills

Eligibility At least an average of 65% (or equivalent) in the final two years of an Australian undergraduate degree
