The major in mathematical economics gives students an opportunity to explore the intimate relationship between mathematics and economics through a program of study which focuses on mathematical analysis, modern statistical techniques and economic theory.
Requirements
This major will consist of a minimum of 42 units of courses including:
(a) STAT2001 Introductory Mathematical Statistics
(b) at least one of:
- MATH2320 Analysis 1 Honours: Metric Spaces and Application
- MATH2305 Differential Equations and Applications
- MATH2405 MathsMethods 1 Honours: Ordinary Differential Equations and Advanced Vector Calculus
- MATH3511 Scientific Computing
(c) ECON2111 Microeconomics 2 Honours
(d) at least one of:
(e) at least one of:
- MATH3320 Analysis 2 Honours: Topology, Lebesgue Integration and Hilbert Space
- MATH3029 Probability Modelling with Applications
(f) at least one of:
- ECON3121 Mathematical Economics
- ECON3100 Economics III Honours
