The Honours program in anthropology aims to consolidate undergraduate appreciations and aptitudes for reading and writing and thinking anthropologically, and to hone and build their suite of research skills and competencies. The program does so in and through assisting students to research a thesis of interest to themselves and to the discipline, and in coursework and seminar components. These components aim to deepen the student's understanding of the history of the discipline and the core research elements of anthropology that characterize its distinctive engagement with and inquiry about the world. The program effectively prepares students for those employment opportunities that require research competence, and for continued engagement with the discipline in postgraduate study. 

There will be three components:

(i) Two thirteen-week seminar courses, each of two hours a week.

Explanation and Interpretation in the Analysis of Cultures
Incompatibility: ANTH3013 C Honours

(ii) A research thesis of some 15,000 words
(iii) A thesis-writing seminar throughout the year.
