| Course Description |
An introduction to and exploration of the history and theory of archaeological thought. The course will incorporate an overview of historical changes within the discpline as well as specialist examinations of theoretical and methodological concepts in a number of sub-disciplines and their change over time. |
| Learning Outcomes |
The goal of this unit is to provide a coherent and extended background in historical and contemporary archaeological theory. This material will provide an introduction to archaeological thinking past and present, suitable for graduate students with little or no background in archaeology. For students with previous training in archaeology this course will broaden their understanding of the range and development of archaeological theory, as well as enhance their understanding of specific sub-fields. |

| Workload |
The workload will include 50 contact hours (taught through online and/or intensive delivery of lectures and workshops) plus the expectation of a further 190 hours of independent study.
