Course Description

The course will address the exciting developments in architecture and urbanism worldwide from 1900 to the present day. These will be studied through themes (such as the skyscraper, the planned city, postwar reconstruction) related to the major social, economic and political changes of the 20th century.

Indicative Assessment

2,000 word essay (40%), eight minute class presentation (25%) and 1,000 word take-home visual paper (35%)

Workload Two hours of lectures per week and a tutorial in alternate weeks

Introduction to Art History ARTH1002 and Introduction to Modern Art ARTH1003 or permission of the Coordinator.
