Course Description

In Major 3, a broader range of intermediate skills, techniques and processes, including occupational health and safety principles, is introduced in each workshop. Instruction through project-based studio work encourages an integration of material practice with growing conceptual investigation.  Studio theory increasingly serves to contextualize student study within the broader arts context.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  1. Apply a range of technical skills
  2. Demonstrate creative exploration of materials
  3. Consolidate integration of concepts and processes
  4. Demonstrate awareness of historical and theoretical contexts for artistic practice in the discipline
  5. Show awareness of OH & S requirements and procedures
Indicative Assessment

Portfolio of studio work (80%) and Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%). Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.

Workload

12 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice.
