| Course Description |
The course will introduce students to the history and develpment of the various styles of Chinese calligraphy over the course of more than two millennia. Students will be tutored in rudimentory aspects of the craft. |
| Learning Outcomes |
Understand key phases of the development of Chinese calligraphy; acquire an understanding of the role of Chinese calligraphy historically; to integrate this theoretical and historical knowledge with empirical examples; learn to think critically; develop skills in synthesising and contextualising new information; develop skills to locate, analyse, evaluate and synthesise information from a wide variety of sources, both Western and Chinese; develop an ability to work in cooperative groups on key issues to do with this field of Chinese Studies and to communicate findings to others. |
