| Course Description |
The course is a specific research project under the supervision of a research scientist at ANU or at an affiliated research institute such as CSIRO. Students identify a supervisor after discussion with the course convener. It may be performed in a research laboratory or involve other research under the supervision of a research scientist. |
| Learning Outcomes |
On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. Carry out a specific set of experiments in biology to address a particular research question |
| Indicative Assessment |
• A written report on the research project (75% LO2 & 3) • Seminar (20%; LO 2 & 3) • Research project notebook (5%: LO 1 & 2) |
| Workload |
This can be taken as a variable unit depending on the conceptual difficulty and research orientation as arranged between the student, convenor and supervisor before enrolling. The research project will be normally be completed within the semester of enrolment. |
| Requisite Statement |
Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a major in the field of biological sciences with relevant experience or academic achievement. Enrolment in a Master program of the Research School of Biology or affiliated Research School, such as 7609 Master of Biotechnology, 7613 Master of Molecular Genetic Analysis or 7650 Master of Neuroscience degree programs. |
