Course Description

Reading and discussion of a variety of texts on Chinese culture. Translations of Chinese into English. Most classes will be conducted in the Chinese language.

Learning Outcomes The course is designed to train students to acquire Chinese language skills to an advanced level. At the end of it students should be able to read modern Chinese writings, listen to spoken Chinese and express themselves with a higher level of proficiency.  Their knowledge of traditional Chinese culture will also be significantly extended.
Indicative Assessment

Attendance (10%), Assignment (30%), mid-term exam (15%), oral exam (15%), final exam (30%).
