Course Description The course introduces students to the range of primary reference tools, both Chinese and Western, traditional and modern, available to scholars working in Chinese Studies and the field of translation.
Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course students will have an advanced understanding of the theoretical and methodological issues pertaining to the the range of reference tools available in the field of Chinese Studies and Chinese/English translation.

They will have applied their knowledge and experience of these tools to a particular topic.

Indicative Assessment

One 1000 word assignment - 20%

One seminar presentation - 20%

One major essay - 30%

Final examination - 30%

Workload Three contact hours per week
Requisite Statement

Students who are native speakers of English should have at least a major in another language, or equivalent

Students who are native speakers of other languages should meet the normal ANU English language requirements
