| Course Description |
The Bachelor of Digital Media Honours program at the School of Art offers graduates of a three year Bachelor degree program the opportunity to pursue a high-level digital media research project under the supervision of senior staff. Through the planning, preparation and execution of a two-semester project, Honours students experience advanced practice-led research methodologies and explore the contextual, technical, and theoretical dimensions of the specific modes of practice encompassed by their project. Applications to enter the BMA Honours degree may be made in the disciplines of animation, video, internet art, sound art, and hybrid digital practice. Candidates must have successfully completed three years of the Bachelor of Digital Media or equivalent qualification normally at the level of Distinction, and have had their Honours Research Proposal approved by the School of Art Committee, or it's nominee. |
| Learning Outcomes |
By the end of this course you should be able to: 1. Create an imaginative and focused body of artworks by integrating studio and contextual investigation/research 2. Select and combine materials and processes skillfully to give form to your ideas 3. Critically reflect on your research project and explain your decision making process 4. Identify and analyze relevant historical and contemporary practices and relate them to your own concerns. |
| Indicative Assessment |
The progressive outcomes of this Studio Practice-based course are assessed by periodic critique plus mid-course review sessions and final presentation to the Honours Examination Panel. Critique sessions and mid-year review sessions provide feedback on work in progress and the final presentation is assessed against the criteria set out in the Honours Course Study Guide.
