Course Description

This course of concentrated study by coursework and individual practice provides students with a study program in the use of 3D digital animation for artistic, commercial or scientific visualisation purposes.

 Whilst developing technical facility, the underlying principle of the program is the development of aesthetic sensibilities in the artistic use of computer-generated images. Specific techniques and processes pertaining to the production of 3D computer-generated images will be delivered through a lecture program and developed in tutorials. Theoretical and practical approaches to concept development will be also be explored. The focus of the semester will be the production of a 3D animated short film. 

 

Indicative Assessment Proposed Assessment: Assessment is by a series of assignments and a final presentation of the major project to the assessment panel

Workload

All sessions take place in a computer laboratory

3.5 hours of seminar / studio practice per week

Students are expected to do at least an extra 4 hours of independent studio practice each week
