Course Description

This course aims to develop a sound understanding of microeconomic analysis. Starting with the study of optimising behaviour by individuals (both consumers and producers) facing constraints, it then studies  the interactions between agents in one market (partial equilibrium analysis) through to a study of the determination of prices and the allocation of resources and goods in general equilibrium. The main elements of standard price theory in (perfectly) competitive markets are covered, as well as circumstances where there are a small number of competitors on one or both sides of a market.
