| Course Description |
This course provides a brief introduction to the major currents in literary and critical theory over the last 30 years, such as, for example, feminism, Marxism, psychoanalysis, structuralism and post-structuralism, deconstruction, queer theory, post-colonialism and cultural materialism. The format of the course involves intensive study of a small number of canonical literary texts (say, Shakespeare's The Tempest or Woolf's Mrs Dalloway), which will be used as case studies for practicing a range of critical approaches. |

Two 2000-word essays, 50% each. |
