| Course Description |
This course provides students with the opportunity to undertake supervised research under the guidance of a staff member. An initial class will be held in the first week of semester to explain the supervisory arrangements. In the main, the research topics will be largely empirical in nature. Each semester, the course coordinator will compile a list of potential topics, with the assistance of staff in the School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Applied Statistics. This list will be made available to enrolled students at the start of the semester. Students will choose topic areas that are of interest and then approach a member of staff with interests in the area to obtain access to data and to discuss the project. This discussion should include a clear statement of the scope of the project and the expectations that the supervisor has for the project. |

At least an average of 65% (or equivalent) in the final two years of an Australian undergraduate degree with at least one year of university level study in quantitative analysis, including basic mathematics and data analysis techniques. |
