Course Description This course is the last in the sequence of doctoral seminars offered in finance and is designed to immerse students in current research topics drawn from corporate and behavioural finance. The material is a blend of theory and empirical work, with the focus on the interface between models and tests of models. Topics vary from year to year, but are likely to include agency conflicts, corporate governance, capital structure, taxation, experiments, and surveys. It is preferred that students have taken Finance Theory (FINM8010), and are currently taking Finance Empirical (FINM8011). This is an advanced course.
Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course students should have an understanding of the concepts and be able to apply the techniques outlined in the course description.

Eligibility

At least an average of 65% (or equivalent) in the final two years of an Australian undergraduate degree with at least one year of university level study in quantitative analysis, including basic mathematics and data analysis techniques.

Required Skills
It is expected that all students are familiar with basic microeconomic theory and have a working knowledge of both calculus and matrix algebra.
