| Course Description |
This is an intensive course designed to build a complex understanding of French language skills and cultural knowledge. The aim is to develop students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in French and to acquire an appreciation of Francophone cultures. It is also intended to develop the capacity to reflect critically on cross-cultural differences between Francophone cultures and other cultures. |
| Learning Outcomes |
By completion of this course students will be able to:
· Engage in debate with others with fluency and spontaneity in French using correct grammar to support their ideas and thoughts (Assessments 1, 2 & 4) · Write clear and detailed texts in French using appropriate grammatical structures and syntax. (Assessments 1 & 3) · Read and demonstrate comprehension of selected French texts on French history, culture and society by explaining, verbally and in writing, the main ideas and authors’ inferences within the texts given. (Assessments 2, 3 & 4) · Demonstrate oral competence by clearly and accurately expressing their own ideas and thoughts in French, in response to texts and audio stimuli provided. (Assessments 2 & 4) Demonstrate their ability to critically reflect, verbally and in writing, on cross-cultural differences between some Francophone cultures and most importantly the Australian culture by comparing the differences and relating their similarities. (Assessments 2, 3 & 4) |
