| Course Description |
This course will examine the emergence of the new field of the history of sexuality, both as an example of the creation of a new field of knowledge and in terms of the substantive issues it has explored. Specific topics will vary from year to year, but will include three or four of the following: fertility, contraception and abortion; sexually transmitted diseases; sexual violence; prostitution; pornography; homosexual/lesbian identities; cross-dressing; masturbation; sexual panics and moral regulation; race, nationalism, eugenics and sexuality; sexology and sexual knowledges in various periods. |
| Indicative Assessment |
Short essay (1000 words, 35%) and Final Essay (3000 words, 65%). Details will be finalised in consultation with students. |
