| Course Description |
This lower advanced Japanese refresher program aims to develop and maintain an advanced competence in modern Japanese and a working knowledge of the issues currently confronting Japanese society. Students will step beyond the control of an intermediate language-learning environment built around a textbook to a more natural engagement with authentic materials aimed at native speakers. Course materials are taken from a variety of up-to-date authentic media, including podcasts (radio, TV and film), websites and print media. The course also aims to improve students’ knowledge of issues confronting contemporary Japan. The internet and other media sources will be used to encourage students to better access up-to-date information about Japan and Japanese society. Class activities will include activities focused on helping students develop ways of incorporating this information about Japan into their own professional activities. |
