| Course Description |
The course is designed to perform a key role in the advanced training of translators. Foundations are laid for the development of the English-writing skills required in translation, and by introducing students to the concepts of comparative rhetoric. |
| Learning Outcomes |
Abilities to comprehend and analyse an original text of substantial length and difficulty, and ultimately to produce a translation work of quality, are developed, along with learning methods of solving various kinds of problems encountered in the course of translation. |

Three contact hours per week plus several hours preparations for the contact hours. |

| Requisite Statement |
Applicants should have obtained a Bachelor degree from an approved tertiary education institution, with at least six Creit level grades in courses other than first year courses. Students who are native speakers of English should have at least a major in another language, or equivalent. Students who are native speakers of other languages should have either completed their undergraduate study in English or meet the normal English Language requirements of the ANU.
