LEGL7001 Law in Professional Context

Course Description This is an umbrella course for students who are completing professional short courses (including an assessment package) concerning law in a particular professional or organisational context and wish to use such courses as a stepping-stone to further postgraduate study.
Learning Outcomes These will vary according to the topic.
Indicative Assessment The assessment for the course will be developed for each topic, from the variety of assessment mechanisms (with accompanying criteria) currently used for the postgraduate programs at ANU College of Law. There will be at least one significant assessment task that is authentic in nature ie it will require students to complete a real-world exercise from their professional context to which they will be required to apply their emerging knowledge and understanding of appropriate legal concepts.
Workload Approximately 40 hours of formal and private study.
Course Classification(s) TransitionalTransitional courses are designed for students from a broad range of backgrounds and learning achievements, which provide for the acquisition of generic skills; or an informed understanding of contemporary issues; or fundamental knowledge for transition to Advanced or Specialist courses.
