| Course Description |
In this course, we will cover some of the main themes in the philosophy of language. We shall look at the topics of sense and reference, definite descriptions, proper names, metaphor, and belief. We shall examine the views of leading philosophers of language of the past 100 years (Frege, Quine, Kripke and Davidson). |
