Course Description

In this course we shall look at: various attempts to analyse the concept of knowledge, the debate between the Foundationalist and the Coherentist about the structure of knowledge, perceptual knowledge, memory knowledge, knowledge by induction, the distinction between a priora and a posteriori knowledge and the arguments of the sceptic.

Learning Outcomes

The student should learn the main ideas in the Theory of Knowledge: what do we know?  and How do we know it?

Indicative Assessment

Two 1,500 word essays.

Workload 20 hours of lectures and 12 hours of tutorials
