| Course Description |
This course is designed to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the Spanish language for students at the continuing level as determined by Spanish placement test. Grammatical structures and vocabulary are reviewed and extended and further training is provided in language learning strategies. Students are also exposed to texts and audio-visual materials in which the cultures and societies of Spanish-speaking countries are explored. |
| Learning Outcomes |
On satisfying the requirements of this course, the students will have the knowledge and skills to: • communicate efficiently without conspicuously searching for words in predictable situations and aptly in novel contexts; (Assessments 1 &3) • write accurately and coherently at the continuing level [EDS1] about a variety of topics in Spanish; (All assessments) • read authentic literary and current affairs texts with fluency and accuracy, showing comprehension of the texts read by identifying main ideas and the author’s inferences; (Assessments 1, 2 & 3) • analyse the culture(s) of the target language and draw comparisons with their own. (Assessments 2 & 4) |

Graduate students may attend joint lectures with undergraduates. Assessment will include additional assignment work and a research essay |
