Requirements
A major in Biology consists of a minimum of 42 units of BIOL courses including:
(a) no more than 12 units from
- BIOL1003 Biology 1: Evolution, Ecology and Genetics
- BIOL1004 Biology 2: Molecular and Cell Biology
- BIOL1009 Diversity of Life
(b) at least 12 units of Group B BIOL courses
(c) at least 18 units of Group C BIOL courses
A Double Biology Major requires an additional 18 units of appropriate Group C BIOL courses
Notes: Students who start their degree prior to 2010 should consult with the Sub Dean regarding their major in Biology.
First Year course advice:
Students must take at least one of BIOL1003, BIOL1004 or BIOL1009. Students are advised to check the prerequisite requirements of second year courses when choosing their first year courses.
CHEM1101 and CHEM1201 are recommended, and are required for some later year biology courses.
