Program Requirements

The degree requires completion of at least 144 units, of which at least 84 units must comprise:  

• at least 18 units of courses selected from BIOL1003, ENVS1001, ENVS1003 and ENVS1004; and at least 6 units from EMSC1006 or ENVS1008.

• at least 24 units of 2000-coded courses with EMSC or ENVS prefixes: including at least 6 units from EMSC2016, ENVS2007, or ENVS2013 and ENVS2011; and at least 6 units from ENVS2009, ENVS2014 and ENVS2015.

• at least 36 units of 3000-coded courses with EMSC or ENVS prefixes, 18 units of which must be in a major administered by the Fenner School of Environment and Society or the Research School of Earth Sciences.

• at least 6 units from ENVS3007, ENVS3028 or LAWS3103 must be included in the degree.

 

The degree program may not include: 

• more than 48 units of courses offered by a College other than the College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and not defined as Group A, B or C Science courses, of which no more than 24 units may be at first-year level (1000-coded courses);

• more than 60 units at first-year level (1000-coded courses).  

The maximum period for completion of the degree is 10 years from the date of first enrolment in the degree program; the 10 years includes periods of suspension.

The Degree with Honours

Students who attain a sufficient standard in the pass degree may be admitted to the Honours year to become candidates for the degree with Honours.
