Program Requirements

This program requires the completion of 192 units, of which:

A maximum of 48 units can come from the completion of 1000 level courses.

A minimum of 96 units must come from the completion of 2000 and 3000 level courses.

The 192 units must include:

42 units from the completion of one Arts major (see Study Options)

18 additional units of 2000/3000-level courses in the chosen major

36 units from completion of compulsory Advanced Studies courses:

• ARTS1101 - Advanced Studies 1: Thinking Research (6 units)
• ARTS1102 - Advanced Studies 2: Doing Research (6 units)
• ARTS2101 - Advanced Studies 3 (6 units)
• ARTS2102 - Advanced Studies 4 (6 units)
• ARTS3101 - Advanced Studies 5 (6 units)
• ARTS3102 - Advanced Studies 6 (6 units)

48 units from completion of 4000-level Honours courses.

48 units from completion of elective courses which may be offered by the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences or any other College.

Students must obtain an average mark of 80% in each semester in order to remain in this program.
