Graduate Diploma in Advanced Military Law
Degree Structure
This program aims to provide the ADF Legal Officers' Special Career Structure (LOSCR) Legal Training Module 3. This is an option for satisfying the educational component for ADF Legal Officers to qualify for legal competency level LL4 under the LOSCR approved by the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal. The other option is the related Master of Military Law.
Students are to achieve the required competencies set out in the Legal Competency Logbooks (to be renamed Task Journals) in:
- Administrative Law
- Discipline Law
- Operations Law
Plus another Postgraduate course in Law or Strategic and Defence Studies Centre.
The program consists of 24 units including 18 units of compulsory courses listed below and one elective course chosen from a list.
- LAWS8164 - Advanced Military Discipline Law
- LAWS8165 - Advanced Military Administrative Law
- LAWS8166 - Advanced Military Operations Law
The mode of delivery will be in the form of week long intensive seminars with WebCT communication and activities before and after.
8,000 - 10,000 word research essay or equivalent in each course.
